About this talk

Do you want to understand the psychology behind self-directed learning? Clinical psychologist, author, and mother of two self-directed learners, Naomi Fisher talks about these topics in this interview . Naomi brings together a professional background in psychology with a practical understanding of self-directed education. Through working with children who were unhappy at school, she became convinced that education can never empower people by taking away their control over their lives. Her work focuses on the interaction between a child and their environment, and how we can create the circumstances for every child to thrive. . Her book, Changing Our Minds: How Children Can Take Control of Their Learning, will be published by Little, Brown in spring 2021. . This interview was presented at the Homeschooling Global Summit 2020 organized by Galileo - the self-directed online global school. Learn more at https://2020.hgsummit.com/.
