About this talk
There are many challenges that come with shifting to a remote learning environment, one of which is the potential loss of software tools that comes with being removed from the campus. Not only are students removed from campus resources, but fully online learning can also come with new types of assignments that link to new software requirements. Addressing these demands across a multi-platform environment while not placing an undue financial burden on student and families requires a creative solution.
The solution to this challenge is to shift to open source software, full-featured programs that are free to download and use and also supported by robust user communities. This presentation will explore what open source software is, where to find open source solutions, and some of the most applicable open source solutions to common software challenges for online learners.
