As a mindfulness educator, I have had the pleasure of working with many educators and students throughout Connecticut in schools K- higher ed, presenting at conferences focusing on SEL using mindfulness practices and strategies complimented by contemporary children's literature. Recently, having been chosen to participate in a global UNESCO future of education conference, Sept 2020, I met international educators who are all are on the same page of understanding the importance of emotional intelligence and supporting, teaching and cultivating social emotional learning skills at home and in school settings. My interest is designing mindfulness practices and learning activities fostering student wellness, agency, and resiliency, using vetted children's mindfulness literature bringing awareness to cross curriculum areas, an example would be environmental poetry and movement experience using story telling and tangible assets.
